Singalongs, Folk Songs and Hymns is a booklet which comes as a supplement to The Danish Folk High School Song Book.
Singalongs are a strong part of the Danish folk high school tradition. By making this special edition focusing on English songs, we hope to strengthen the fellowship of singalongs across language and culture. This publication marks the 175th anniversary of the inauguration of the first folk high school in Denmark.
The first Folk High School Song Book was published in 1894 with songs mainly written by N.F.S. Grundtvig – the founder of folk high schools in Denmark. Many of his songs are still a part of the representation, but today the book has a diverse range of songs representing human life and society. This booklet consists of a mix of well-known popular songs as well as a couple of Danish folk songs and hymns translated into English.
